Change default file type when using Save button on toolbar?

When you click on the Save button in the toolbar of the preview window, is there a way to change the default file type? Right now it defaults to .vpe and we would prefer it defaults to .pdf for example.

We've also encountered an issue when saving over networks. When users click on the Save button in the toolbar, change the file type to PDF, and navigate to a folder over a network - VPE errors out. Is this a known issue?

This is what I use:

VpeSetDocExportType(VPE_DOC_TYPE_PDF)
VpeSetSaveFileName(hDoc, "*.PDF")

The file save dialog is the standard Windows built-in dialog. VPE is not involved there. This is rather a problem of your machine (configuration / virus scanner, etc.). Or what does "error out" exactly mean? If this happens after clicking onto the "Ok" button of the file save dialog, the error comes from VPE. Please elaborate.
